Behind every flower is a story.
My story, the heart and soul behind The Flower Press Shed.
Hello, I’m Tami, (the founder) of The Flower Press Shed, and I’d love to share a little bit about myself and the inspiration behind my work. The Flower Press Shed isn’t just a business to me – it’s a heartfelt way to help people preserve life’s most meaningful moments.
Inspired by Nature and Family
From a young age, I’ve been deeply inspired by nature and gardening. Watching seeds turn into vibrant blooms never fails to amaze me. My love for flowers is something I inherited, nurtured during childhood whilst spending days in the garden or down the allotments with my parents and grandparents. These special moments, surrounded by nature and family, sparked a lifelong appreciation for the beauty of flowers.
One Christmas, when I was just eight years old, I unwrapped my very first flower press—a gift that changed everything. I spent hours learning how to press flowers, carefully preserving delicate petals and leaves to capture their beauty. That little flower press even came along on family holidays, tucked away in my suitcase, always ready to preserve new treasure
What Drives My Passion
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: that life’s most meaningful moments deserve to be treasured. Every petal I press and every arrangement I preserve carries a story – your story. Whether it’s your bridal bouquet, funeral flowers, or just a collection of blooms that mean the world to you, I see it as my mission to handle them with care, respect, and love.
It’s not just about preserving flowers – it’s about preserving memories. I love hearing the stories behind each bouquet, learning about the people and emotions tied to them, and transforming them into keepsakes that can be cherished forever.
Turning a Dream into Reality
My journey began during the Covid-19 pandemic, a time of reflection and change for so many. It was then, while pregnant with my first child, (who has a very rare genetic syndrome called Koolen-De- Vries) that I made the leap to start The Flower Press Shed. Shortly after giving birth to Petal (my second child) I became a single mummy. I had only ever wanted to become a mummy however not a solo one so very soon after birth. With hormones, breast feeding and juggling so many appointments for my eldest condition whilst dealing with broken heart I felt I needed to take a leap of faith. This is what got me through it, courage to try to balance motherhood and raising children, so my adventure which had huge risks attached, began. I left my role as a CBT Practitioner and pursued my lifelong dream. I wanted to create something that allowed me to connect with others in a meaningful way while surrounding myself with the beauty of nature. And so, The Flower Press Shed was born.
My Love for Flowers
Flowers have always been my happy place. There’s something truly magical about receiving your precious bridal bouquets. I haven’t yet been lucky enough to be a bride myself (at 42, there’s still time, right?), but your wedding blooms fill my heart with so much love and positive energy, filling my soul with love. Each bouquet tells a story, and being trusted to preserve those memories for you is an honour I don’t take lightly.
Connection and Wonder
When I’m not working on flower pressing, you’ll often find me by the sea. Norfolk and Cornwall hold a special place in my heart, and being by the water feels like coming home. I love starting my mornings with a swim three times a week – it clears my mind, fills me with energy, and sets me up for a wonderful day ahead. I love connecting and chatting with others, when it comes to getting admin tasks done, I often escape to Starbucks for a combo of admin, tea and cake! Hypnobirthing, pregnancy, and the human body are deeply interconnected subjects and passions of mine, one day I hope to offer a supporting door to expecting mothers creating a positive birth world, as was mine, maybe write a positive birthing book one day, we can dream right?
A Little About Me
I’m a single mummy to two beauties- Bay 4 and Petal 2 which fills me with such gratitude as I was told I could never have children. I’m the kind of person who feels everything very deeply, such a sensitive soul – if you’re crying, there’s a good chance I’ll be crying too. I find joy in the little things, like an endless supply of decaf tea and a slice of cake (or two!). These small comforts remind me to slow down and savour life, just like the beauty in the blooms I press.
Grateful for This Journey
I can’t tell you how much I love what I do. I feel immensely grateful for this wonderful opportunity to do what I love. Whether it’s a bridal bouquet, a treasured bloom from a loved one, or simply flowers that make your heart sing, I pour my heart into every petal I press.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your story. It’s a privilege to preserve your precious memories and create something that brings you as much joy as it brings me.
With love and gratitude,
Tami, Founder of The Flower Press Shed
